Summer is here and with it our tips for what's in for 2013

Summer Wedding Ideas from 2 Cool Flowers

Have you been to a wedding recently?

Flower girls are not longer throwing rose petals on the aisle, extra large flower arrangements are not place in every table, heavy bouquets with lots of green and bride and groom cake toppers are no longer seen. Not that traditional weddings will ever go out of style, but lately more and more couples are choosing something more customized for their special days.

Brides are still in love with vintage, but moving away from the informal floral decor of the last few years. They are wanting fine flowers that represent an elegant and sophisticated look but still feels very fresh and natural. Flowers commonly requested are hydrangeas, peonies or garden roses, ranunculus, stock, freesia, and soft greens that gives to the arrangement a very luxurious and a fresh soft look

Many venues and ceremony places are not allowing the use of petals, bubbles, or any other object to the floor. You might think, there's really no point for a flower girl if she can't throw flowers, but actually having kids in your ceremony makes it look more romantic and cute. Flower wise: pomander balls, hair pieces, halos or a small gather of flowers similar to the bride's bouquet can be really handy ideas.

Cascading bouquets are more often requested everywhere this year. Despite of the big 80's bouquets, brides nowadays are looking for long, but slender and more delicate style. Adding a "special something" to the bouquet incorporates a meaningful touch. From brooches, strands of pearls to pieces of mother or grandmother's dresses and remembrance pictures can make dramatic accents, but more unique and significant to the bride.

Bold colors like deep pink, bright orange, grass green and teal are popular choices for this 2013. Using each as an unique color of the wedding or sometimes a combination of all, you will be seeing them along all the decor, that goes from table clothes and chair sashes to bridesmaid's dresses as an alternative to the monochromatic bridal party.

Vintage and rustic accents are being incorporated to modern weddings. Farm settings, wood tables, branches, accents of greens, warm browns and reds, and outdoor activities where the sunlight can supplement soft, old-style lighting into the early evening. Just keep in mind having always a plan B for your outdoor activities where the extremely hot temperature or the surprise rain can ruin your big day. God Bless Texas!

Valentine's Day is Over

Valentine's Day is over!!
It was a day full of action for us at 2 Cool Flowers.

We had every type of clients. A lot of man who stopped by picking up something special and wanted to give the surprise to the loved ones, other who just called to send flowers because they didn't know what else to give, we also have last minute calls asking the deliver asap since everybody else already had flowers and balloons.... and last but not least the one that call the day after because oops they just forgot about it. They usually asked for more than the regular dozen since the love is so disappointed.
We also had women interested in giving flowers, what an original way to show the rest that MAN also love to receive flowers.
My husband, who was on the roll of "the delivery guy", told me the story of delivering flowers to a man in his office, as soon as he walked in with this beautiful flower arrangement made on booth vase, all the women turned their heads excited about the unique design and detail this guy just received.
Big smiles, balloons, flowers and LOVE that's what Valentine's Day is all about.... I just hope that next year a lot of costumers think on the possibility of pre-ordering their flowers days before the big day. That way, they won't be any late deliveries, unhappy girls at the offices, and a lot of empty doghouses.... but guess what? This is cycle that never ends, next year it will happen again and WE ARE READY for that and more...
What's next? oh yes, Mother's Day another exciting day for us the florists!!
See you soon my friends...
